Welcome Letter

Dear colleagues,

It is a great honour and privilege for us, the Israel Nuclear Society (INS) and the Israel Society for Radiation Protection (ISRP), to invite you to the 30th Conference of the Nuclear Societies in Israel. Unfortunately, the long four-year interval from the 29th conference was imposed on us by the COVID-19 restrictions.

Our societies have advocated nuclear energy as one of the most environmentally friendly ways to produce clean, reliable, and safe baseload electricity for almost two decades. The importance of this option increases, taking into consideration global climate change and energy security. Many nations worldwide are reassessing nuclear energy as a critical component in achieving low-carbon energy production by 2050. Our Societies will continue to promote this option as part of the future energy mix of Israel.

Our societies recognize the growing importance of reducing radiation exposure in medical treatment and diagnostics of patients and medical staff. Therefore, our conference includes, for the third time, a one-day symposium dealing with radiation protection in medicine.

Subjects like nuclear security, nuclear physics, decommissioning, radioactive waste and the environment have now taken their place at the conference’s forefront.

In the name of the organizing committee, we invite you to participate in the coming INS30 conference and hope you will find it interesting, challenging and productive.
